Everyday, around 6:15 in the morning, she walks along the corridors of James Hubert Blake High School with a big smile plastered on her face. Holding a cup of hot coffee, she greets everyone a good morning as she gets ready for a long tiring day. Being a teacher need a loy of patience and determination and what makes this young teacher, Emily Luedtke, greater is that she puts all her effort in teaching school community based students or mostly students with special disabilities. Emily stands for 7 hours a day to teach these special kids a nww lesson. She does not want to come to school unprepared of what to teach her atudents for the day wether it's arts, gym or comprehension class. As. a new teacher, Emily already earned different praises from her teaching capabilities but also because of her will to make the program succeed. According to her, the goal of the school community based program is for her students to gain access in the general curriculum. She teaches them hiw to do math, how to read and write for them to go on and be functional in the community when they get old. " What surprised as yhe most was her attitude is always about what students can do, not what they can't do. I just have so much admiration to this teacher who just came in and took the bull by the horns," Carole Goodman, principal of James Hubert Blake HS, said with admiration in her eyes. Emily has learned to love her students along the way and as each day passes by she molds her student with new learnings and ideas to be used in the future.
